French Dressing

I've put the old 2-ply scarf on hold for a bit - more out of sheer frustration at the time it's taking to complete; it might be done by a June birthday, perhaps...?

In the meantime, I've returned to the French dress, partly because it's cold and I'm getting through jumpers very quickly and they're just not drying in this weather; and partly because it's quicker to knit...

...although it is turning into a rather oddly shaped wasjig... I'm hoping the 'collar' will bring it all to sense before I freeze...

Because I love knitting and I LOVE Iceland...*

Christmas is coming...

I thought this looked pretty cool:

Simply Soothing Spa Set from KnitPicks.com

I suppose you could find all those patterns elsewhere too, but it's not bad with all the wool included.

The 2ply scarf is still taking forever to finish...! :( X========...

Knot Ace...

There are numerous things wrong with the current scarf project which are slowing me down immensely:

1. Knitting with 2ply wool,

2. using size 11 needles,

3. creating a box pattern of k4, p4 for 4 rows, then turning and trying to remember what the last stitch I knitted was - not always easy to tell with tiny wool and dark or mixed colouring,

4. and a ball of wool that insists on getting itself all tangled and knotted, despite the fact I spent an entire day untangling it and winding it around the cone. It has a life of it's own this wool!!

Also, does it look a bit too 'metrosexual'? I'm not sure the intended recipient does 'metrosexual'...

I'm not really convinced I'll have much time for another scarf before Christmas at this rate, since four hours work only yielded about 20cm gain. Still, having put my two dresses on hold all week for this, as I'm away this weekend at the intended recipient's house, I will be returning to beige dress, which should make me feel a lot better - size 6 needles, thick wool and a k3, p3 rib... Bliss...

Scarf Ace 2

It's nearly Christmas, so I thought I ought to get on with making presents before anything else. Everyone loves a scarf, right...? ;)

I did, after all, buy this wool ages ago with the intention of knitting my dad a scarf on the knitting machine (which failed badly) and I spent all of Saturday (no exaggeration) re-winding the ball of wool, which had turned into a pile of knots, so it's about time really...

Erm...

Finished the back:

This worried me... Aside from the fact there was a clear mistake in the pattern and I was being asked to decrease by more stitches than I had (I'm sure there's an erratum somewhere...)... The shape does look a little tiny around the neck...

Luckily I checked the rest of the pattern before completely panicking, and it seems the sleeves are pretty fat and there's a collar... So it may work... ?

Mother gave me a bag of odd balls of wool this week, so now I have no excuse but to plan the grey dress embroidery! (Although I am still missing pink...)
